Andrew Burki is the founder and CEO of Life of Purpose, the first academically focused substance abuse treatment facility located on a university campus in the United States. Living a sober life since 2001 and working in the field of substance abuse for over a decade, his road to recovery has served as an inspiration to many struggling with addiction. Lost and hopeless when he first arrived in South Florida for treatment more than a decade ago, Andrew’s commitment to his education has given him the tools to effect change on a larger scale. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida Atlantic University, Andrew obtained a Master of Social Work in 2012. Since then, he has devoted himself to Life of Purpose, a new standard of care in the substance abuse treatment industry.

Jeffrey C. Lynne is a South Florida native, representing individuals and business entities relating to licensing, accreditation, regulatory compliance, business structuring, marketing, real estate, zoning, litigation and appeals pertaining to substance abuse treatment facilities and sober living residences. Mr. Lynne has been recognized across the state and country as a leader in progressive public dialogue about the role that community based substance abuse treatment has within our society and the fundamental civil right of citizens in recovery from addiction to housing of their own choosing. Mr. Lynne received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Florida in 1993 and his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 1997, with honors. Mr. Lynne’s distinguished career began in the Office of State Attorney in Miami and then continued to the Office of City Attorney for the City of Boca Raton, Florida, and most recently as a shareholder with Akerman LLP in the firm’s Land Use & Zoning Practice Group. In 2010, Mr. Lynne joined fellow land use attorney Michael S. Weiner, Esq., and litigator Laurie A. Thompson, Esq., to form Weiner, Lynne & Thompson, P.A., in Delray Beach, Florida, representing the substance abuse treatment industry across the State of Florida. Amongst other professional accomplishments, Mr. Lynne most recently served as co-counsel in the case of The Caron Foundation of Florida, Inc. v. City of Delray Beach, 879 F.Supp.2d 1353 (S.D. Fla. 2012), which case reaffirmed that government agencies may not discriminate against providers of treatment services with regards to local zoning and housing.

We hope to see you at this important presentation and at the Life of Purpose booth #37!
