We are proud to welcome newly appointed Director of Education, Courtney Portnof to the Life of Purpose Treatment team. Courtney is an accomplished educator, specializing in differentiated instruction, educational assessment and assignment modification. Ms. Portnof received her BA in psychology from American University in Washington DC, where she developed her passion for educating diverse populations. She went on to receive a dual Master’s degree from New York University in Childhood Education/Special Education. Upon graduation, Courtney accepted a newly created position for a school within New York City’s specialized District 75. The NYC Board of Education’s District 75 schools serve those students with the most specialized learning needs. As a Special Education Teacher Support Services Provider (SETSS), Courtney successfully modified and tailored assignments from a general education curriculum and setting for students with high-functioning Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. During her first year of teaching, Courtney was awarded a scholarship for a program at Pace University in teaching and research in Autism.
In recovery herself, Courtney has learned a lot about recovery services from her mother, Recovery Coach and Co-Founder of the International Recovery Institute, Cindy Feinberg. Ms. Feinberg is a well-respected professional, specializing in personized services in the addiction treatment industry. Ms. Portnof shares the same passion and tenacity to help those who suffer from the disease of addiction.
